Saul L. Basch
Vice Chairman, Chief Financial Officer & Treasurer (Retired)
HSB Group, Inc.
Saul L. Basch began his career at Coopers & Lybrand with a concentration on insurance industry clients, ultimately acting as the Industry Leader and Senior Partner of the company's Metropolitan New York Insurance Practice. He joined HSB Group, Inc. in 1995, ultimately serving as Vice Chairman, Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer. Mr. Basch retired from active employment with HSB Group, Inc. in 2012. He is a graduate of State University of New York at Albany and is a Certified Public Accountant.


Terence N. Deeks

The Navigators Group, Inc.
Terence N. Deeks is our founder. He was our Chairman from our formation in 1982 until his retirement as Chairman in May 2013. He was our President until May 2002 and Chief Executive Officer until December 2002.  


Stanley A. Galanski
President and Chief Executive Officer
The Navigators Group, Inc.
Stanley A. Galanski has been our President since May 2002 and our Chief Executive Officer since January 2003. Prior thereto, he had been Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of the Company since March 2001. Mr. Galanski was President of XL Insurance Company of New York from 2000 to March 2001, President of XL Specialty Insurance Company from 1997 to March 2001, and President of New Hampshire Insurance Company from 1995 to 1997. From 1980 to 1995, Mr. Galanski held various underwriting and management positions with the Chubb Group of Insurance Companies. Mr. Galanski is a director of several of our wholly-owned subsidiaries, and is Chairman of Navigators Insurance Company.


Meryl D. Hartzband
Chief Investment Officer (Retired)
Stone Point Capital
Meryl D. Hartzband was a founding partner of Stone Point Capital, a private equity firm that focuses on investing in the global financial services industry. From 1999-2015, she served as the firm's Chief Investment Officer and as a member of the Investment Committees of the Trident Funds. Before joining Stone Point, Ms. Hartzband was a Managing Director at J.P. Morgan & Co. During her 16 year career at J.P. Morgan, she specialized in managing private equity investments in the financial services industry. Ms Hartzband currently serves on the Board of Directors of Vanbridge Holdings Ltd., and previously served as a director of ACE Limited, Travelers Property Casualty Corp., AXIS Capital Holdings Limited, Alterra Capital Holdings Limited, and numerous portfolio companies of the Trident Funds. Ms. Hartzband received a B.A. degree from Cornell University and an M.B.A. from the Columbia University Graduate School of Business.


Geoffrey E. Johnson

Partner (retired)
Geoffrey E. Johnson retired from PricewaterhouseCoopers (“PwC”) in 2010, where he had worked since 1969 in both London and New York, having served major clients and held senior management positions in the U.K., Europe and globally.  Most recently, from 2002 – 2010, he served as the Chief Executive Officer of PwC’s Bermuda-based professional indemnity captive insurance company.  Prior thereto, from 1998 – 2002, he was the Global Chief Financial Officer/Operations Leader for PwC. Mr. Johnson is the Chairman of the Board of Professional Asset Indemnity Limited.


Robert V. Mendelsohn

Chief Executive Officer (retired)
Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group
Mr. Mendelsohn began his career as an attorney at Willkie, Farr & Gallagher, LLP before joining W.R. Berkley Corporation for the next 20 years, ultimately serving as President and Chief Operating Officer. In 1993, he became Chief Executive Officer of Royal Insurance Group, which later merged with Sun Alliance to become Royal & Sun Alliance Insurance Group, PLC (RSA), which he served as Worldwide Group Chief Executive from 1997 to 2002. He has been actively involved in a number of civic and industry organizations in several capacities including Director of the International Insurance Society and of the Association Internationale pour l'Etude de l'Economie de l'Assurance and as former Chairman of the American Insurance Association and former trustee of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriters Society. He is a graduate of Georgetown University and received his Juris Doctorate from Harvard Law School, where he now serves on the Advisory Board of the Program on Corporate Governance.


David M. Platter
Coller Capital
Mr. Platter is an investment partner at Coller Capital, a leading global investor in private equity "secondaries" -- the acquisition of positions in private equity funds from Limited Partners and of portfolios of companies from corporate or institutional owners. Previously, Mr. Platter served as a Vice Chairman and Managing Director at Credit Suisse in the Investment Banking Department's Financial Institutions Group. Throughout his twenty-seven year career as an investment banker, Mr. Platter provided mergers & acquisitions, capital raising and strategic advisory services to numerous insurance and healthcare companies, banks, thrifts, asset managers and other financial institutions.


Patricia H . Roberts
President and Chairman (RETIRED), General Star Management Company and Genesis Management and Insurance Services Corporation


Ms. Roberts built a 35-year career at General Reinsurance Corporation, joining in 1977 as an excess casualty underwriter, and rising through the ranks in various leadership roles. She retired in 2012 from her dual position as President and Chairman of General Star Management Company and President and Chairman of Genesis Management and Insurance Services Corporation, two wholly-owned subsidiaries of GenRe. Ms. Roberts holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration from George Mason University, and received her CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) designation in 1985.  She is actively involved with several community organizations including the Greenwich Council Boy Scouts of America, and Inspirica, a non-profit that provides support for Connecticut’s homeless, for which she is Chairman.  


Janice C. Tomlinson
Executive Vice President of Field Operations (retired)
Chubb Group of Companies

Ms. Tomlinson began her career at St. Paul Fire and Marine before joining the Chubb Group of Companies in 1973 where she remained for the next 36 ½ years, serving in various executive management roles including Executive Vice President of International Field Operations (2003-2009), President and Chief Executive Officer of the company's Canadian operation (1995-2003), and Managing Director of Worldwide Human Resources (1990-1994). She has been actively involved in the community by serving on numerous non-profit boards including the Toronto Board of Trade, United Way of Toronto, Insurance Institute of Canada, Women in Insurance Cancer Crusade and Providence Centre Foundation. She holds a B.A. from Marymount College of Kansas, and attended the Yale University Executive Management Program as well as the Harvard University Strategic Human Resources Management Program. 


Marc M. Tract
Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP
Marc M. Tract has been a partner of the law firm of Katten Muchin Rosenman LLP and a predecessor firm since 1994, both firms which have been counsel to the Company for the same period. Mr. Tract specializes in the areas of corporate and regulatory matters for the insurance industry.
